Mario Lopez won his 2nd LAPT Title
The Argentinian Poker professional has just grabbed his latest big win in the recent Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) Main Event which took place at the Conrad Punta del Estate Resort & Casino in Punta del Este, Uruguay. He took out a field of 267 players in a very dominant fashion.
This is the second time that he has won a LAPT Main Event title. His first win was in Season 7 of the even when he took down 609 players on his way to a $117,991 score at the Vina Del Mar Casino in Peru.
Lopez has garnered around $1.6 million in live tournament earnings, with $1.1 million of it arriving in 2015. Just this summer he was the runner-up to Paul Hoefer at the WSOP, making $399,455. He topped that sum a few months later when he won the Estrellas Main Event at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona festival where he made $451,107.
All the 267 players that took part in this event created a prize pool of $776,970. In the end the battle would come down to two men, but one of them was the more experience one. Lopez started with the chip lead which soon passed momentarily to Quijada. Soon after Lopez snatched back the lead and then it all went down for Quijada. Quijada raised to 300,000, Lopez three-bet him to 600,000, Quijada moved all-in and Lopez immediately called it. Lopez had pocket jacks versus Quijada who had pocket sixes. You can imagine what happened five cards later.
