A study found that 46% of US social gamers spend money
A new study has shown that almost half of all social casino players in the US are spending real money on their imaginary games. This new market research has shown that nearly 46% of social gamers had taken money out of their pockets to play different games in the past six months.
As far as age and gender goes, men account for almost 59% of the monetized social casino market. About a third of all males between the ages of 21 and 35 years apparently spend money on social casinos, compared to only 22% of females in the same age bracket. Males with ages between 36 and 50 ranked third at 20% followed by 16% of females located in the same age bracket. Males and females with ages between 10 and 20 scored just 6% and 3% respectively.
It seems that this type of gamers generally frequent about 5.6 different franchises. When it comes to time spent playing a single franchise, 2.5 hours per week was the average out of the 17 franchises which were studied. Around 25% of these players would spend two to five hours per week on a single title, while 21% would play for less than one hour and only 5% have reported playing a single title for 15 hours or more.
It seems that social casinos are really hitting it off with more and more people paying money out of their pockets and spending more and more time with them.
